Khmiadashvili is Among Leaders

 

Georgian chess player Tamar Khmiadashvili(2162) is among  three leading veteran chess players at The 20th FIDE World Senior Chess Championship, which is underway in the city of Italy, Arco.
In the 2nd round acting European Champion playing with white pieces beat Russian Larisa Khropova (2037) and she is leader with Estonian Tatiana Fomina (2256) and Austrian Elen Mira (2133).
In the next round she plays with black pieces against one of the leaders Fomina.
World Champion Nona Gafrindashvili(2363) celebrated first victory at the tournament, she has the best rating there.
Gaphrindashvili playing with black pieces beat Kazakh Panu Abdikasova (2010) and gathered 1.5 points.  She is on the 4th place with additional showings. In the third round her opponent will be Russian Elena Fatalibekova (2270). Women will hold 9 rounds at World Championship. The winner will be awarded 600 EUR , other price money is - II-500, III-400, IV-200 EUR. On October 31 is day off and chess player will go for an excursion to Venecia. On November 6 holds concert.
