International marathon was hosted by borough of region Kazbegi, Stefantsminda. ”Visiting Georgia” company, Departure of Tourism and Georgian Athlete Federation organize this marathon. Among professional Georgian athletes, amateurs and tourists took place in this tournament in 3 distances (6km, 21km and 42 km).
As it was expected in 6 and 21 km distances were dominated Georgian athletes. In 42 km distance foreign tourists also did well.
This marathon aims popularization of health life, extreme sports and tourism development. 100 participants from 10 different countries started marathon in Stefantsminda and went to 3 different direcions.
It is worth mentioning that 21 and 43 km distance running contains to run through some villages of Kazbegi region and run up and down Trinity Church of Gergeti.
Organizers of this marathon awarded winners with medals and some other prizes. Athlete Federation awarded prize-winners with 500-300 and 100 GEL money-prize.
The oldest participant of the marathon was 74-year-old Japanese tourist and the youngest was 15-year-old Georgian athlete. According to Marathon administration, marathon will be more various in the future.
