The duet of Georgian Oksana Kalashnikova and Ukrainian Irina Byriachok was involved in the Australian Open, however, lost in the first match.

Georgian-Ukrainian duet played against Russian-Australian tandem (Nadia Petrova-Samantha Stosur) in the initial round and lost 1:6, 2:6 in 46 minutes.

It should be marked that Kalashnikova and Byriachok could not win the serve of the opponent even once and in total they gained almost two times less points (31:60) than Petrova and Stosur.
