Kalashnikova Went Through the 1/4 Final in China

 

In the first circle of the current tournament (prize fund 125 000 USD), which is underway in Ningbo (China), the tandem of Oksana Kalashnikova and Ukrainian Irina Buryachok (both #4 seed) won over the duet of Polish Katarjina Piter and Ukrainian Julia Baygelzimer 6:3, 6:3 and went through the ¼ final.

Kalashnikova and Buryachok earned 44 ranking points, in the next round they will face the duet of Petra Cetkovska and Carolina Pliskova of Czech Republic. 160 ranking points are regarded for winning the tournament in Ningbo.

The Georgian number 1 seed, Ana Tatishvili moved to Las Vegas from Albuquerque and tomorrow she will be involved to the main draw of the 50 thousands tournament. The first opponent of Tatishvili will be Samantha Crawford of America, in case of winning she will face the winner among Chie-Yu Hsu and Maria Sanchez.

In doubles, the duet of Ana and Croatian Ajla Tomljanovic will play against the tandem of Americans (Chako – Pluskota).

Suddenly 10 of the Georgian tennis players were involved in the qualification draw of the Telavi International Tournament (prize fund 50 000 USD), but none of them has reached to the decisive round. Tinatin Kavlashvili, Lana Rostiashvili and Mariam Gogelashvili remained at the end of the tournament but they also failed.

Recall, that in the main draw of the Telavi tournament, Sopo Shapatava, Maka Chakhnashvili, Sopo Kvatsabaia, Ekaterine Gorgodze, Tamar Chalaganidze and Mariam Bolkvadze are directly allowed.

It is already known, that in the first round Shapatava plays against Katarjina Kava of Poland, Chakhnashvili against #2 seed Alexandra Panova (Russia), Bolkvadze – Masa Zec Peskiric (Slovenia), Kvatsabaia – Olga Savchuk (Ukraine), Gorgodze – Misa Eguchi (Japan), Chalaganidze – Irina Khromacheva (Russia, #6 seed).

In doubles, Gorgodze and Shapatava will compete against Ukrainian Fomina and German Shakovets (#4), Chakhnashvili and Kvatsabaia will face Polish Kawa and Russian Lazareva, Bolkvadze and Chalaganidze against German Zaja and Slovenian Zec Peskiric, Machaidze and Chichashvili against Russian Doroshina and Brazilian Pigossi.
