Jobava Lost Positions

 

In the 7th round of chess tournament which is underway in the city of the United Arab Emirates, Al Fujairah, No.1 seed Baadur Jobava (2710) lost to Chanda Sandipan of India (2596) with black pieces. The Georgian grandmaster earned 3.5 points and is in the 15th place among 58 participants.

Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2639) beat Qadir Huseynov of Azerbaijan (2621) and is in the 11th place with 4.0 points. In the 7th round Mchedlishvili will play against Ivan Saric of Croatia (2622) with black pieces. Jobava will play against Qun Ma of China (2534) with white pieces.

Sergey Fedorchuk (Ukraine, 2562), Surya Ganguly (India, 2619), Etienne Bacrot (France, 2702), Olexandr Moiseenko (Ukraine, 2702) and Sandipan are leading the tournament. They have 4.5-4.5 points.

The tournament is based on Swiss system and 9 rounds will be held. Prize money is 50 000 USD. 15 best chess players will gain prize money – first-fifth-placed will gain 15 000, 10 000, 6 000, 4 000 and 3 000 USD.
