Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili who tragically died at 2010 Winter Olympics competition in Vancouver, Canada and after his death he was awarded with highest insignia by International Olympic Committee.

Gia Natsvlishvili the president of Georgian National Olympic Committee and Lado Vadzelashvili a Minister of Georgian Sport and Youth Affairs attended this ceremony.
The executive committee of IOC made decision to award Kumaritashvili with this award before several days at the meeting which was held in Mexico.
“We are sad due to death of young sportsman. Such tragedy should not happen any more in sport. “- stated Pamela Vaipodina. The president of International Luge Federation confirmed once again information that there will be built luge road named after Kumaritashvili in his home town Bakuriani.
