Georgian National Judo Team finished competing at Grand Slam named after Jigorno Cano. On the exclusive day of the tournaments champions were found out in the heaviest weight. There was not Georgian participant in 100 weight category and as for heavy weight, Nodar Metreveli competed and stayed beyond the tournament after the first circle.
Japanese Masaru Momose beat him by ippon at the 3rd minute. In the second circle, Momose won over Kazuhiko Takahashi. Also he beat Cuban Oscar Brayson and will wrestle against German Andreas Toelzer in the semifinal. Korean Sung-Min Kim and Japanese Daiki Kamikawa wrestled against each other for the final, but he could not beat South Korean sportsman. + 100 category was the only category where hosts did not win any medal. It is noteworthy that Sung-Min Kim beat No.1 seed judoka of the tournament Egyptian El Shehaby.
Takasama Anay who was considered as a favorite won the title. He beat Jewish Ariel Zeev in decisive match.
Georgian National Team took the 14th place with French team. Champion in this tournament became Japanese Team. South Korea and Brasilia took the 2nd and the 3rd positions. Avtandil Chrikashvili and Varlam Liparteliani gained points from Georgian judokas. Both of them finished competing in 1/4 final. They gained 60-60 points with taking the 5th place. After Grand Slam will be common trainings and Georgian National Judo Team also will participate in these trainings.
