Managers of Georgian Sambo Federation estimated results of European Championship in Vake sambo hall.

Soso Liparteliani, president of Sambo Federation, made comments about Georgian sambo and future plans at the press conference.

“We divided season in two stages. The first stage ended up with Russian European Championship. The second will start in September when our main and age teams will start preparation for World Championship. I am satisfied with this year’s result. The main, youth and cadet teams earned 24 medals at European Championship. In Moscow the team managed to win 2 gold medals despite injustice refereeing. Besarion Berulava wrestled against Russian rival in final and referees did not let him win. Besides that, five sambo players stood on the pedestal. Two girls were among them. We expected more from some members of the team but this time they could not show their possibilities. The main tournament of the season – World Championship will take place in Minsk in November. In September, Georgian Championship will find out candidates of the team. They will be tested at the international tournaments and the best sportsmen will be in the list”, - stated Soso Liparteliani.

Nothing was said about elections of European Sambo Federation which was held in Moscow one week ago. Oleg Iadze, former vice-president of Georgian Sambo Federation and former coach of the team, was elected as a vice-president. Belarusians presented Iadze on this position.
