"Heineken Cup" Belongs to Georgians from Toulon

In the final of Europe's most prestigious club tournament Rugby “Heineken Cup "-" “Toulon” of David Kubriasvili , Levan Chilachava and Konstantin Mikautadze  beat " Clermont "of  David Zirakašvili and Vito Kolelishvili 16:15. Prior to that, yet not one Georgian received the honor to raise the Cup.

The tournament was founded in 1995, and it won 6 times by French, English and Irish clubs. "The third French club “Toulon” after ” Toulouse” and “Brive”, who won this trophy. Although, depending on the nature of the game, we would have to write those words about the "Clermont".

Indeed, the final was held at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, was dominated by the people from Clermont. They controlled the ball longer, owned the territorial advantages, brought two tries and conceded just one, but "Toulon" played more disciplined in defense and it was Johnny Wilkinson, who once again decided the fate of the game, scoring a penalty strike 3 and 1, and the last-minute drop-goal involves David Skrely.

Mikautadze and Chilachava participated neither in the final nor the previous “Heineken Cup " matches, Kubriashvili played in 8 of the 9-and-matches, and in the deciding match appeared on the field at the 77-minute and helped his team capture the last violent enemy attacks.

David Zirakashvili was in the starting lineup of “Clermont" and played up to 74-th minute. He stood well in the scrum and in the first minute twice forced the opponent. In several episodes he sharply attacked the whole game and reliably operated in protection, making excellent grips. Kolelishvili was not in the start line-ups.
