Georgian National Judo Team started competing unsuccessfully at Tokyo Grand Slam. Today, prize winners will be found out in two lightest weight categories. Betkil Shukvani (60 kg) and Shalva Kardava (66 kg) lost in the first circle.
Shukvan could not win over American Nicolas Kosor. Georgian judoka gained 2 yokos but was beaten with vazar. As for Kardava, he lost with Japanese Yunpeu Morishita in one minute and 26 seconds. In 60 weight categories Japanese sportsmen will wrestle. Hosts represent 4 sportsmen and four of them gained medals. Hirofumi Yamamoto became a champion. In 66 weight categories, Maasaki Fukuoka won over Russian Musa Mugashko.
Tomorrow champions and prize winners will be found out in 3 weight categories -73, 81 and 90. 4 sportsmen will represent Georgia. Tengiz Paposhoshvili (73 kg) meets Navruz Jurakobulov of Uzbekistan. In case of victory he wrestles against Hussein Hafiz of Egypt or Hongkonger Chi Ip Chung.. Dirk Vam Tichelti pf Belgium and Benjamen Darbale of France are also in this wrap.
In 81 weight category Giorgi baindurashvili and Avtandil Chrikashvili represent Georgia. Both of them are ranked in the second circle. Portuguese Diego Lima will be rival of Baindurashvili and in case of victory he wrestles against Ian Barton of Britain or Jewish Yoel Razvozov. Chrikashvili wrestles against Pole Robert Kravchuk and then supposedly American Travis Stevens.
Varlam Liparteliani (90 kg) the best rating owner among Georgian sportsmen, in case of beating three rivals wrestles against favorite Japanese Takashi Ono in semi final. Liparteliani starts competing at Grand Slam with wrestling against South-Korean So Keun Song. The winner from this couple wrestles against Argentine Hector Campos and supposedly against Brazialian Tiago Camilo in semi quarter.
