Grand Prix Goes on without Medals for the Georgians

The debut of Olympic and European champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili turned out unsuccessful in 73 kg. The Georgian judoka held only one fight at Dusseldorf Grand Prix – he lost to Nicholas Delpopolo of America 0:2.

On Saturday champion of 81 kg was also found out. Ushangi Margiani wrestled in the name of Georgia. He defeated Carlo Luz of Portugal. In 1/8 final the Georgian judoka won over Ivan Felipe Silva of Cuba. But then, Margiani lost to Travis Stevens of America. In repechage semifinal the Georgian lost to Sirazhudin Magomedov of Russia and finally, took the 7th place.

Hiroyuki Akimoto of Japan became champion in 73 kg and Travis Stevens – in 81 kg.

On Sunday champions and prize winners will be found out in 90, 100 and +100 kg. The following judokas will wrestle in the name of Georgia: Zviad Gogochuri, Beka Gviniashvili (both 90 kg), Aleksandre Mskhaladze, Nodar Metreveli (100 kg), Adam Okruashvili and Levan Matiashvili (both +100 kg).
