Georgian Greco-Roman style wrestlers won 6 medals in European Championship, which was held on August 7-8 in the city of Sarajevo. There are 10 weight categories in this age group and head coach of Georgian Team was to represent whole team in this championship but suddenly after voting Murtaz Chabrava (46 kg) was not called up and Georgian team began wrestling with 9 men. Among them only 3 could not win prize places.
The most successful was the last day of championship. Kraveishvili’s 4wrestlers became prize winners. Only one wrestler Piruz Tsulukidze became champion. Wrestler, who became European champion in 58 weight category
now beat all competitor in 63 weight categories, became European champion and made double. Within championship he beat most competitors. In Final match he beat Finn Oscar Letonen then Norwegian Reuben Toftendal, Ukrainian Andrey Tsipan, Russian Abazit Mantsigov and Karapet Chalyan. Iakob Kajaia wrestler in 100 weight category had not enough scores before decisive match, could not beat Ukrainian Samir Voloshanin and won silver medal. Before final he beat Romanian Barbazan Tiberiu, Pole Aleksander Kozak and German Ion Cristian. Amiran Shavadze had the same as well as last year. He got the second bronze medal in European Championship, but in 2009 he was wrestling in 46 weight category and this time he wrestled two kilos heavier category. He lost chance of improving Bosnian result in semi-final and lost with future champion Azerbaijani Rashad Shukurov and in repechage final he beat Hungarian Michael Daher.
Before match with Azerbaijani Amiran Shavadze beat Greek Aleksios Malamidis, Ukrainian Andrey Zubik and Russian Maksim Surkov.
Lasha Gobadze (69kg) was defeated in semifinal with future champion and finished thinking about golden and silver medal. After beating Serbian Milosh Mariani, Turkish Iunush EmreTopchus and Pole Krjishtof Formula he could not beat Belgian Nikolai Dobrev. “In bronze final”, Gobadze beat Ukrainian Oleksei Osniak
After several matches of the championship, were found out champion-prizewinners in 42, 50, 58, 69 and 85-weight categories. Ednar Shavadze (42 kg) and Robert Kobliashvili (85 kg) from Georgian 3 best wrestlers from 5 were successful. Voting from 17 participants gave 2 rounds to 15 wrestlers in the lightest category. For passing the first round Ednar Shavadze beat Latvian Nikita Masiuki. Then he lost with future champion Azebaijani Karim Jafarov and went through repechage, where he beat Ukrainian Roman Pasarkivski and Turkish Alaskan Gis Omer and broght bronze medal to team.
Robert Kobliashvili after losing future champion Bulgarian Ilian Gazepov in the 2 th round and left championship. Before lost, for bronze medal he beat Lithuanian Tomas Galkus, Estonian Est Piksar, Ukrainian Artiom Kirichenko and Avstrian Daniel Gastel.
Mate Beradze (69kg) first match wrestled against German Cerbert Shvarc, after win he beat Swiss Damian Dietsche, in 1/4 final he was defeated with Russian Bekkhan Ozdoev, who won golden medal. For winning bronze medal he had to beat two competitors. He lost with Turkish Batuhan Koiunchu and got the 8th place.
Shmagi Bolkvadze (50kg) and Ramaz Surmanidze (58 kg ) left championship at earlier than others. Wrestlers who beat them could not go through final and that’s why they had not chance of wrestling in repechage. Bolkvadze who won silver medal last year, this time only was able to beat Hungarian Adrian Kratsin and Armenian Suren Hasratyan and finished fighting for golden-silver medals in 1/4final. After losing with Azerbaijani Roshan Tagiev he won the 7th place. Georgian team collected 58 points and won the 2th place.
