Nona Gaphrindashvili (2363) could not manage to keep her title at World Veteran Championship. But it is pleasant that Georgian chess player Tamar Khmiadashvili (2162) won the championship. She has also won European Championship.
Three chess players collected 7.0-7.0 points within 9 rounds at the championship which was held in the city of Italy, Arco. According to the additional data, Khmiadashvili won gold medal, Gaphrindashvili won silver medal and Estonian Fomina (2256) - bronze medal.
Khmiadashvili was beat only by Gaphrindashvili. She won over six opponents and played one draw. Mrs Nona had the same result. Fomina defeated her.
Anatoly Vaiser (2507) who was competing in the name of France won among men. Like him, Czech Vlastimil Ian (2499) and Belarusian Viacheslav Didishko (2547) collected 8.5 points and they shared the second-third places.
