The whole Georgian football discussed unsuccessful start of "Torpedo" Kutaisi. Seven rounds are held at current national championship and "Torpedo" gained first 3 points. Fans of the club expected this victory during 2 months. The club played so badly that fans expressed their aggression not only once. They have pretensions toward head coach of the team Nestor Mumladze who resigned before the previous round. Gia Gigatadze is a new head coach of the team. He headed reserve team before that. "Torpedo" gained the first victory with him and we started our conversation with congratulations.
- Mr. Gia, I want to congratulate you on your debut success. How can you estimate the match against "Tskhinvali"?
- Thank you very much. It was really a tense match. As you know, there was not so good psychological situation in the team. Series of unsuccessful matches affected on boys but they did their best on the field. They fought and gained the first victory. Perhaps, playing quality was not good but now the team needs result than quality.
- Did you talk to boys before the match?
- Of course, I talked to them. I tried to discharge their stress situation. As I said boys played well and we showed the result. Yes, we could not use a lot of goal moments but now we cannot blame fortune for it.
- What is the reason of unsuccessful start of "Torpedo"?
- I think, unluckiness is the reason. I do not mean, that our team played well in all matches but it is fact, the team had no luck. Coaching process was carried out on high professional level. Nestor Mumladze worked productively but he needed fortune. I hope that fortune will be on our side from now on.
- Fans think, that the team needs more strong players...
- It is natural, that everyone wants to have the best players in the team. In my opinion, selection work is done well in our team. There are some players in our team who have won Georgian Championship and national Cup. They are experienced players but I repeat once again, in case of a little fortune "Torpedo" would have been on high step.
- People think, that it would be better for "Torpedo" if local players and coaches were in the team. What is you opinion about this issue?
- The idea is praiseworthy and acceptable but I will say, that if "Torpedo" often wins, fans will not have such questions. There are some teams which does not have not only representatives of their town but also the country. Anyway the teams play successfully. As for players of Kutaisi who are playing for other clubs, they have signed contracts with their clubs and these contracts must not be violated. If the club thinks that it is necessary and player will satisfy our demands, local players will have priority. As for coaches, football academy is planned to be formed in our town. Owners of the club want good specialists to work here. So, everyone will have a chance to show himself.
- When did you sign contract with the club?
- I have signed one-year contract with "Torpedo" but as head coach of reserve team. Everything will be decided in near future.
- You will held next match against "Dinamo". How are you preparing for this match?
- It will be a difficult match. In my opinion, "Dinamo" is always the best Georgian club. The whole Georgian football has been waiting for this match for a long time. We will be mobilized. It is difficult to prepare especially in this busy mode. But it is always special to play with the best Georgian club.
- Will "Torpedo" be able to fight for high goals with this staff?
- We should try. Experienced players are playing for our club. Everything depends on devotion and good play of these boys. Let us see, the first circle has not finished yet. Everything can happen.
- Reserve players showed themselves in the match against "Tskhinvali". Should we expect other new faces in near future?
- Yes, these boys showed themselves well. This is the result of long working which was headed by Mr. Nestor Mumladze. Also I like the idea of reserves championship which is important for advance of Georgian football. If anyone will show his possibilities, then everyone will have a chance to play.
- And how can you estimate current national championship?
- Nowadays, there is no club which is better than the opponent. XXII Championship is the most tense championship. It would have been better if the level had also increased. So, it will not be serious to make any prognosis for now.
