Nona Gaphrindashvili (2362) took the first place among women at European Senior Chess Championship which was underway in the city of Italy, Courmayeur.
Gaphrindashvili lost with Italian Antonio Rosini (2233)in the last 9th round, but Galina Strutinskaia who was behind her also lost and as a result she kept leadership. Besides gold medal Gaphrindashvili was awarded with 700 EUR and in total squid she took the 18th place with 5.5 points.
Tamar Khmiadashvili (2194) won bronze medal and 300 EUR. Khmiadashvili won over Italian Paolo Colombo (2130), in total squid she took the 22nd place and among women she took the third one.
Romanian Mihai Suba (2465) champion of European Championship ganed 7.5 points and was awarded with 1700 EUR from 10350 prize money.
