It can be said that Georgian Sumo wrestlers are competing the most unsuccessful Basho this year. The results of the current Basho makes us conclude in such way. 9 days passed after starting of this tournament and none of Georgian sportsmen could not make positive balance.
The most successful in compare to other sportsmen is 23-year-old Teimuraz Jugheli, who competed as the 10 East Maegashira. He is the heaviest sportsman in elite Makuuchi (202 kg) he has 5 lost and 4 wins.
For Kachi-Koshi he needs to win 4 matches from 6. His next opponent is 14th Maegashira Miabiama. He plays against 33-year-old Japanese sportsman (188 kg) once in his career.
More experienced Georgian Sumo wrestler Tochinoshini and Kokai have the same results – 3 victories and 6 lost matches. Tochinoshini the same Levan Gorgadze won lost 4 matches from last 5 ones. Estonian Ozeki who is candidate of “Emperor Cup” won over Tochinoshini.
Gorgadze after fighting against leaders has chance of resting, his next rival is 2nd Maegashira Asasekiriu. Georgian sportsman beat him last year. 29-year old Levan Tsaguria a pioneer of Georgian Sumo has the only victory in 5 matches. The 6th Maegashira lost with the 8th Maegashira Shimotori. He has 3 victories and 6 lost matches. He will try to improve his showings against the 10th Maegashira Tosaiutaka.
It is quite possible to be held big fight for November Basho. After 9 rounds of the tournament there is not leader yet. Yokozuna Hakuho, Ozeki Baruto, Kaio and the 9th Maegashira Tochinoshini have 8-8 victories.
As a tradition Kiushiu Basho lasts for 15 days and finishes on November 28.
