Georgian women’s tennis team won one match in the first group of Fed Cup Europe/Africa Zone. But it was not enough to keep the place on the mentioned level.

The Georgian tennis players (player-captain Maka Chakhnashvili, Sofia Shapatava, Sofia Kvatsabaia, Ekaterine Gorgodze) lost Belarus, Austria and Croatia 0:3. They lost to Turkey 1:2.

Sofia Kvatsabaia (459) lost to Basak Eraidin (309) 6:0, 6:3. Sofia Shapatava (300) beat Kagla Buyukacay (163) 7:5, 6:3. In doubles Buyukacay and Pemra Ozgen (284) defeated Maka Chakhnashvili (400) and Shapatava 7:5, 6:2.

So, the Georgians will play in the second group of Europe/Africa Zone.
