8 teams will participate in World Judo Team Championship. Current world champion Georgia is among these teams. Antalya, city of Turkey, will host the championship on October 30-31. Women will wrestle on the first day and men will wrestle on the second day. Judokas of Soso Liparteliani will start participation on the second day.
"Voting was held today. Georgia is No.4 seed team and we will be with No.1 seed Japan in the wrap. Georgian-Japanese roads will be crossed in the semifinal. Before that our team must beat South Korea and Japan - Russia. No.2-No.3 seeds France and Mongolia are in the second side of the wrap. France will wrestle against Brazil and Mongolia - against Turkey" - Zura Usupashvili, head of press service of Georgian Judo Federation, stated to "World Sport" yesterday.
Soso Liparteliani, head coach of Georgian team, took 7 judokas to Turkey. Davit Asumbani will wrestle in 66 kg, Nugzar Tatalashvili - in 73 kg, Avtandil Chrikishvili and Khvicha Khutsishvili - in 81 kg, Varlam Liparteliani - in 90 kg, Zviad Khanjaliashvili and Lasha Gujejiani - in +90 kg.
Preliminary matches will start at 13:00 Tbilisi time and final matches will start at 17:30. As we found out, Turkish side is ready to sell TV report to Georgia but it is not known if negotiations will be carried out.
Georgian judo team is current world team champion. Georgian team won this title in Tokyo, 2008. Shota Khabareli was head coach of the team.
Today, Brazilian, German, Japanese, Dutch, Mongolian, French, Chinese and Turkish women will fight for the championship.
