The city of Turkey, Istanbul hosted World Championship of Shotokan Karate from  July 30 to August 1. Members of Georgian Federation of Battle Variety won 10 medals and took the 3th place in group.
Saba Tsaava (7-10 years, cat) and Guram Jijilava (12 years, kumite) won golden medals. Giorgi Jikia got the 2th place (16years,65 kg, kumite) on the 3th place are Henry Vekua (+18 years,74kg,kumite) and Bachuki Sulamanidze.Giorgi Natsvlishvili,Davit Tkebuchava,Henry Vekua,Giorgi Jikia and Shota Gorelashvili, who were playing in group kumite got the 3th places.
It is remarkable, that in group kumite Georgian Team beat Russian, Iran, Switzerland and Rumania Teams.
55 countries participated in the World Championship. Georgia played with 15 sportsmen in the Championship.
