Georgian Freestyle Wrestling Team has left for Turkey. On February 11-13 Istanbul hosts traditional international tournament named after Yashar Dogu. Zaza Turmanidze head coach of national team has already mentioned with “World Sport” that he was going to call up current champions of Georgia for this competition. He made an only exception, he called up Ilia Khutsishvili and Koba Kakaladze silver and bronze medals winners instead of champion Tsotne Barmidze.
International Wrestling Federation does not let Tsotne Baramidze to represent Georgia. The reason of such strict sanction is changing citizenship twice. In 2007, Baramidze decided to continue career in Kazakhstan, but he did not wrestle at any of the high-class tournament as rep of Kazakhstan. In a few years he came back. He did not have any problem in Kazakhstan, but… FILA has new regulation and according to it to change citizenship is allowed only once.
Georgian side can appeal it but changing something is very doubtful. That’s why 24-year-old sportsman had dilemma to represent Kazakhstan again or to finish career.
“World Sport” will provide latest information about his case in the nearest future. It can be said that Georgian team will be the same at European Championship as it is at this tournament. There are the following titled sportsmen in the main staff of the team: Otar Tushishvili (66 kg), Revaz Mindorashvili (84 kg) and Giorgi Gogshelidze (96 kg) supposedly will fight for getting right of competing at World Championship.
