Today prize winners will be found out among men in 73 and 81 kg weight categories and in women in 63 and 70 kg at the Grand prix in Samsun. Preliminary stage meetings are undergoing yet, but the day has been already completed for the members of Georgian judo team.
The failure of Lasha Shavdatuashvili and Zebeda Rekhviashvili (both 73kg) was the most unexpected. The experienced members hold only one match in Turkey.
Lasha Shavdatuashvili lost to Turkish Hassan Vanlioglu in the initial stage. The Georgian Olympic Champion could not make even a stunt against his opponent during 5 minutes, but in case of fair referee he would have to get a right to wrestle in the second round. Three seconds before the final siren the Turkish overcame Shavdatuashvili by ippon.
Rekhviashvili was No.1 seed at the Grand Prix and opened the competition by the meeting German Christopher Folek. He attacked his opponent from the outset and made him get two shido, but finally the Georgian lost the chance to fight for a medal in all three samples.
Ushangi Margiani, wrestler in 81 kg weight category, was involved from the second circle in the tournament and lost to American Travis Stevens, finalist of Tbilisi Grand Prix.
Today Shorena Sharadze (63kg) also participated, but she lost to Polish Agatha Ozdoba in the initial stage.
The tournament will end tomorrow. Following participants will wrestle under the Georgian flag: Beka Ghviniashvili (90kg), Ioseb Mskhaladze, Guram Tushishvili (both 100 kg), Adam Okruashvili, Levan Matiashvili (+100kg) and Irine Leonidze (+78kg).
