On December 15, Georgian diving team is leaving for Ukraine where they will participate in category A international tournament.
Irakli Bartaia, general secretary of Georgia Water Sports Federation, stated to "World Sport" about it.
According to him, 13 countries will participate in the tournament: Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Russia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, Finland, Bulgaria and Poland.
The tournament will be held by Olympic system. 3 sportsmen are in Georgian team: Shota Korakhashvili and Chola Chanturia will make individual and synchronized diving from 3 meters. Salome Jugeli will compete in individual diving from the same height.
"The abovementioned tournament is considered by schedule of European Federation and has been held for 5 years. Georgians will compete in top three for the third time this year. Two years ago, we won bronze medal and last year we won silver medal. The next years are years of Olympic licenses and that's why we made individual program more difficult. We have been preparing since September. European Championship will be held in Italy in March. Jugeli will have debut in elders team. All three sportsmen are candidates of London Olympiad 2012. I hope, they will compete successfully. Especially, I believe in Chanturia", - stated Bartaia.
According to him, Georgian National Olympic Committee is financing their departure and Ukraine Olympic Committee will pay for their food. Georgian sportsmen will return to Tbilisi on December 21.
