Georgian national rugby Sevens overcame France 31:14 in the decisive match and on Sunday will continue to fight for the Cup from the ¼ final.
Merab Sharikadze cut the line and Irakli Machkhaneli missed a few to try, but Zurab Dzneladze continued attacking and scored a try. The meeting resumed and Merab Kvirikashvili made a try conversion and Sharikadze scored a try – 12:0. At the 4th minute Machkhaneli started attack and Giorgi Pruidze continued it and Tedo Dzibdzibadze crowned it by try.
At the start of the second half Bidzina Samkharadze played well, he made Machkhaneli cut the line, the 4th try was followed it and by the conversion of Kvirikashvili the score became 26:0. At the extra minutes, Zurab Dzneladze fixed the final score – 31:14.
After the first day, Merab Kvirikashvili is the tournament’s top scorer by 4 tries and 7 conversions (in total 34 points) and is 5 points ahead of the nearest opponent. The team took the 4th place after England, Scotland and Wales and in ¼ final plays against Russia.
