Today, four Georgian chess players Maia Chiburdanidze, Nana Dzagnidze, Maia Lomineishvili and Sophiko Khukhashvili left for Antakya where Women's World Chess Championship will take place.
Khvicha Supatashvili will be consultant of Chiburdanidze, Zurab Sturua will be consultant of Dzagnidze, Merab Gagunaashvili - Lomineishvili, Davit Arutinyan - Khukhashvili. Georgian Chess Federation financed preparation period of the participants.
World Championship will open on December 3 and the first round will be held on December 4. 2 mini-matches will be held at each stage, except the final. In case of draw, additional tiebreaks will be held.
450 000 USD is prize money of the tournament. Champion will win 60 000 USD. Player who will lost in the first round will get 3 750 USD. Other money will be distributed this way: II round – 5.500, III round – 8.000, IV round – 12.000, V round – 40.000, VI round – 30.000;
