Lado Vardzelashvili, minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia, met Ronnie Todd, project manager of one of the most successful British colleges Bradford College.
Secretaries of the minister, Merab Ratishvili and Vladimir Akhalkatsi, general secretaries of Georgian Boxing and Basketball Federations, attended the meeting.
Bradford College is a very developed college in Great Britain. The college has rugby and football clubs. Also, the college has boxing center and sports infrastructure for basketball, volleyball, judo and athletics.
Main sports center of the college – Training Green Sports Center is considered as one of the preparation sports-training bases for Summer Olympic Games 2012. The college plans to work with Georgian Rugby Union which means that young Georgian rugby players can study at the college.
Project manager of British college visited Tbilisi to attend international education exhibition on March 19-20. Universities of Britain and Switzerland will participate in it.
Lado Vardzelashvili: “It was a very important meeting. Ronnie Todd offered us to train representatives of different sports for London Summer Olympic Games 2012 at Bradford college sports bases. Also, he suggested inviting young sportsmen to study at language courses. We will see how the negotiations will end up”.
Ronnie Todd: “I am in Georgia for the first time. I want to thank minister for an interesting meeting and conversation. We suggest you training Georgian sportsmen at Bradford sports bases. I will arrive in England and talk to minister of Sports. Then, I will send detail information. We will invite you minister to visit our sports bases and we will make the final decision”.
