The final of Telavi International Tournament (25 000 USD) will be held without Georgian tennis players. No.3 seed Ukrainian Irina Buryachok will play against No.4 Austrian Melanie Klafner who was finalist of „Telavi Open“ last year.
Klafner beat 4 opponents and two of them were Georgian players. Melanie beat Ana Jikia in the first round. In the semifinal, she defeated No.1 seed Georgian tennis player Oksana Kalashnikova 7:6 (7:1), 6:2.
Kalashnikova and Klafner are competing together in doubles tournament and they are favorites (No.1 seed). Georgian-Austrian duet beat Maka Chakhnashvili and Sopho Kvatsabaia 6:1, 2:6, 10:4 in the semifinal. They went through the final where they will play against Ukrainian-Romanian duet (Kapshay-Shatmar) or Hungarian-Polish duet (Jani-Kosinska).
Chakhnashvili was competing in singles tournament with rating 2, though, she was beat by Karolina Kosinska 3:6, 4:6 in the 1/8 final.
As we have already mentioned, Klafner played at „Telavi Open“ last year and lost against Hungarian Reka-Luca Jani 2:6, 4:6. Austrian tennis player took revenge when she won over Jani 6:3, 6:2 in the ¼ final.
