Pantsulaia and Mchedlishvili Fight for the Championship

An Uzbek participant joined top Georgian chess players at the Mumbai international tournament. Levan Pantsulaia (2563), Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2645) and Farrukh Amonatov (2616) earned 8-8 points and are leading the tournament.

In the previous round Pantsulaia played draw with Zaven Andriasian of Armenia (2608) with black pieces. Mchedlishvili defeated compatriot Merab Gagunashvili (2592). So, Gagunashvili has 6.5 points and is in the 18th place among 138 participants.

In the last 11th round Pantsulaia will face Amonatov, Mchedlishvili – Andriasian and Gagunashvili – Laxman of India (2428).

Prize money of the Mumbai tournament is 28 000 USD. Champion will gain 7 000 USD.
