We Stayed in European Elite

Georgian sevens rugby team lost to England 7:24 at the final stage of European Grand Prix. The Georgians took the 4th place.

If the Georgians had beat discourage England, then they would have taken the second place. If not then the Georgians had guaranteed the fourth place. Unfortunately, even discourage England was stronger than us. The Brits controlled the ball all the time and won the half 7:0. Then, they advanced 17:0. Zurab Dzneladze scored one try and Shavleg Makharashvili used conversion. But the Brits scored try-conversion at over time.

So, the Georgian team will continue fighting for V-VIII places at the Romanian stage. Next year the team of Kakha Alania will play in elite group. The Georgian rugby players will hold the next match against Germany. Our opponent Ukraine could not win a single match in Romania and next year Belgium will replace it.

At the 3rd minute Giorgi Shkinin, one of the leaders of our team, injured his leg. So, he will not be able to help his team. The match against Germany will start at 15:18.
