Basketball fever will begin on October, in Slovenia. Our team will participate twice in a row in the Europe Championship. Georgian team will held first match of Eurobasket 2013 on September 4, in Celje at the 16:30 of Tbilisi time. They will play against Poland.
The team of Slovenia is well-known for our team. First official meeting was held in 1995. In the qualifying round of Europe Championship, the meeting ended usefully of Slovenia 91:68. In the qualifying round of Europe Championship 2011, the teams met twice. In the first match, Georgia won over Poland 84:65, and in the second match Poland defeated our team with a small advantage – 67:58.
In the preparatory stage of Europe Championship 2013, Poland won over our team 87:75 in friendly match.
Poland team has 2 experienced leaders: Marcin Gortat (“Phoenix”, NBA) and Maciej Lampe (“Barcelona”, Spain). During absence of Zaza Pachulia, Giorgi Shermadili will try to neutralize Gortat in the center.
