National Championship: Tatanashvili, Symbolic and Other Nominees

The first stage of the Georgian Championship ended, incomplete 18 rounds and the major battle will be for entering in the top six. It should be said that 7 teams are fighting for 4 places – “Dinamo” and “Chikhura” will win undoubtedly, “Dila”, “Sioni”, “Guria”, “Metalurg”, “Zestafoni”, “Wit Georgia” and “Torpedo” will need to fight a lot. The team of Kutaisi has relatively small chances, because they separated with 4 points from the team which is in the 6th place.

We said incomplete 18 round because the missed match between “Zestafoni” and “Spartak” will be held on February 22.

We will name forward of “Chikhura” Dimitri Tatanashvili as the best football player of the first stage. He is a striker with 12 goals and the case is not only in goals: Tatanashvili is also very useful player beyond the penalty area.

Tatanashvili scored against 9 teams of 11: against “Dinamo” at Super Cup. Only “Guria” and “Rustavi” survived.

We had two options in the nomination for the best goal: Dennis Dobrovolski (“Metalurg” – “Chikhura” 1:1) and Aleksandre Koshadze (“Guria” – “Torpedo” 2:0). Dobrovolski scored from 40 meters and Koshadze from the corner. Name both – it is hard to distinguish.

This year, several young players estanlished themselves in lineup. We will name defender of “Dinamo” Tbilisi Giorgi Gvelesiani as the best young football player – he has scored 3 goals and all three valuable: against “Dila” (1:1), “Zestafoni” (2:1) and “Torpedo” (2:1). These two goals he scored at the final minutes and made “Dinamo” win.

The best

Symbolic team

Goalkeeper: Giorgi Loria (Dinamo);

Defenders: Davit Odikadze (Chikhura), Otar Khizaneishvili (Dila), Giorgi Rekhviashvili (Chikhura), Tengiz Chikviladze (Guria);

Midfielders: Giorgi Datunaishvili (Chikhura), Giorgi Janelidze (Wit Georgia), Koba Shalamberidze (Guria), Dorin Goga (Dinamo);

Forwards: Dimitri Tatanashvili (Chikhura), Irakli Modebadze (Dila).

We found difficult to make a choice when selecting some positions of symbolic. For example, Davit Odikadze or Temur Gongadze, Dorin Goga or Grigol Dolidze. Nominally, neither Chikviladze is left defender (he is left central), however to find another candidate on this position was difficult. Besides, Chikviladze often played as a left defender…

One player is in the symbolic from legionaries and accordingly we named him as the best foreigner this season: Romanian midfielder of “Dinamo” Dorin Goga.

The best substitute player is Giorgi Kvilitaia. 20-year-old forward of “Dila” played 2nd halves against “Zestafoni” and “Torpedo” and scored 3 goals in total. Not only goals, on the whole, his appearance converted the whole match. So, the “Joker” name belongs to Kvilitaia.

Naming the best coach is difficult for us, because the majority of teams changed coaches (as happened in previous seasons). Even so, we will distinguish Lado Burduli, Kakha Kacharava, Giorgi Daraselia and Gia Geguchadze, and this because they came later to the team and the situation is better. From the side of result, this is especially told about Burduli. During that time Lado is a head coach, “Sioni” hold 9 matches and have not lost one.

As for the statistics: 263 goals were scored in 107 matches, in average 2.45 in one meeting. From these 107 matches the hosts won 56, draws were 23 and in 28 meeting the guests won. There was one round, when none of the teams played in their own city, own stadium…

Strikers:

12 – Dimitri Tatanashvili (Chikhura)

9 – Dorin Goga (Dinamo), Irakli Modebadze (Dila)

8 - Cisco (Dinamo)

6 – Vili Isiani (Guria), Tornike Kapanadze (Torpedo)
