Dzagnidze against Skripchenko

 

Georgian chess player Nana Dzagnidze (rating 2551) who competes at World Championship plays against Almira Skripchenko (2460) in the second round. Alima was born in the capital of Moldova, Kishinev but in spite of this represents France. In the first round Skripchenko won over Cristina-Adela Foisor (2403).
Their match was the longest in compare other matches in the first round. French and Romanian players drew classical moves, but after break situation was changed. In the next additional moves they also drew and finally Skripchenko playing with whites won 3.5:2.5.
Besides Dzagnidze, two Georgian chess players compete in the second round. Maia Chiburdanidze (2502) plays against Ksue Zhao (2474) of China and Sophiko Khukhashvili plays against active World Champion Aleksandra Kostenyuk (2507) of Russia.
The second round of the tournament which is underway in the city of Turkey, Antakia holds on December 7-8. In case of drew, will be held time-break like it was in the first round. The prize-money of Word Championship is 450 000 USD and the winner will be awarded with 60 000 USD.
