Jobava Plays Tie-Break

 

Georgian grandmaster Baadur Jobava (2693) defeated Martyn Kravtsiv of Ukraine (2620) with white pieces in the first round of World Cup 2013 which is underway in the city of Norway, Tromso. Now he lost with black pieces. On 13 August Jobava will play tie-break with his opponent.

Each game consists of two games, besides final where four games will be held. Tie-break: if the main game ends up draw two games 25 minutes+10 seconds; two games 10 minutes+10 seconds; two games 5 minutes+3 seconds and Armageddon – 5 minutes of whites against 4 minutes of blacks. In case of draw blacks go through the next round.

Prize money of World Cup is 1 600 000 USD. Champion will earn 120 000 USD. The chess players who lost the first round will gain little money – 6 000 USD.
