Jobava Equalized Score

 

Georgian grandmaster Baadur Jobava (2696) managed to equalize score with Anton Korobov of Ukraine (2720) in the second round of World Cup 2013. Jobava lost with black pieces. Today he defeated the opponent with whites on the 73rd move.

On 16 August the Georgian and the Ukrainian chess players will play tie-break and the winner will play either Ruslan Ponomariov of Ukraine (2756) or Daniil Dubov of Russia (2624).

Each game consists of two games, besides final where four games will be held. Tie-break: if the main game ends up draw two games 25 minutes+10 seconds; two games 10 minutes+10 seconds; two games 5 minutes+3 seconds and Armageddon – 5 minutes of whites against 4 minutes of blacks. In case of draw blacks go through the next round.

Prize money of World Cup is 1 600 000 USD. Champion will earn 120 000 USD. The chess players who lost the first round will gain little money – 6 000 USD.
