Davit Bezhuashvili, president of Georgian Weightlifting Federation, made a statement about his resignation. According to unconfirmed reports the main reason of this was a significant financial sanction set up by the International Weightlifting Federation, which was imposed due to the failure of 4 athletes on the doping-test.
Today, an extraordinary congress of the Federation will be held at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the delegates, who has a right of vote, will formally approve the application of Bezhuashvili and also will choose a person, who will attend the president’s duties.
Recall that Georgian weightlifters Rauls Tsirekidze, Davit Gogia, Lasha Talakhadze and Shota Mishveladze were exposed in getting doping and were disqualified last year.
