Dangerous Statistics - without Medals and Points

Georgian judo is having a hard period. Representatives of 23 countries managed to get in top 7 at Warsaw World Cup. Georgian team was left behind this top 7. Georgian team competed in the tournament with a new staff (most main candidates of weight classes are in Japan) but it does not justify them. Also, other countries participated in the tournament with weakened team. Japanese and South Korean teams did not participate in it at all.

On the second day of the tournament, winners were found out in 4 weight classes: 81, 90, 100 and +100 kg. Four Georgian judokas wrestled on tatami and all of them lost in 1/8 final. Only one Davit Loriashvili (100 kg) went through 1/8 final.

Heavyweight Adam Okruashvili lost against Tormodur Johnsson of Iceland by ippon. Paata Gviniashvili (81 kg) and Giorgi Tsotsiashvili (90 kg) won only one match and after that they could not overcome Hungarian obstacles. Gviniashvili was beat by Milan Burges and Tsotsiashvili – by Gabor Ver.

Loriashvili won over Hungarian Daniel Hadf in 1/16 final. Then he beat Russian David Bitiev.

Considering that two months are left before European Championship, we will abstain from making a comment about Georgian team. We will just write names of those countries which showed better results than Georgians: France, Armenia, Italy, Ukraine, Great Britain, Poland, Israel, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Brazil, China, Belgium, Spain, Romania, Slovakia, Mongolia, Switzerland, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Holland and Kazakhstan.
