"Chikhura" Fought till the End

"Chikhura" faces "Neftchi" Baku in the next round

After the draw, Senol Gunes, head coach of “Bursaspor”, could not imagine that “Chikhura” Sachkhere would have been a tough opponent. The Georgians fought till the end in the both two matches and deserved victory. Penalty shootout is called lottery but the Georgians used their chance and made through to the next round.

Before the match Turk fans who had banner “Radical” made a noise. The Georgians were shouting “Chikhura” and whistling. By the way, these “Radicals” were singing and supporting their club during the whole match.

At the beginning of the match the guests had territorial advantage and the hosts were trying to score goal by counter-offences.

At the 27th minute Besik Dekanoidze missed the target. At the 30th minute Giorgi Rekhviashvili also missed the target.

Before the break “Bursa” took a free kick and the headshot of Ozturk missed the target.

The Georgian and the Turk football players could not score goal in the second half and extra time started.

At the 93rd minute Ozbayrakli was penalized for a foul on Gabedava. At the 98th minute referee sent off Giorgi Somkhishvili, goalkeeper of “Chikhura”, from the bench.

120 minutes could not determine a winner and penalty shootout began. “Chikhura” scored the most penalties and won 4:1. Odikadze, Gabedava, Koripadze and Mumladze scored penalties. Mumladze scored the last penalty. He took off his shirt and ran toward the tribune where the Turk fans were sitting. The fans got angry and they threw different things to the field. There was also a clash between the Turk and the Georgian football players but police calmed down the situation.

“Chikhura” will face “Neftchi” Baku in Europa League III qualifying round. “Baku” lost to “Koper” of Slovenia 1:2 but the club won 2:0 away and went through to the next round.
