According to the decision of UEFA, football club “Chikhura” is fined with 15 000 EUR. The reason was the inappropriate behavior in the match against “Bursaspor” in Europa League II qualifying round.
News agency azerisport.com reports it. The mentioned agency is also furious with the incident in “Chikhura”-“Neftchi” match.
Here is the statement of Maksime Kvilitaia, goalkeeper of “Chikhura”, which he posted on his Facebook: “We ask our fans not to hang political banners. Special representatives of UEFA will attend the second leg and if such incident happens again, the whole Georgian football will be punished. We ask fans to respect opponent clubs and their fans”.
Sadikh Sadikhov, president of “Neftchi”, softened tone. Yesterday he stated that “Chikhura” is not a team.
“Nothing can undermine the friendship of the Azerbaijani and the Georgian people. “Neftchi” and “Chikhura” have a good relationship. We respected the Georgian club in Baku. We solved their problem at the airport and now, we are showing them the city sights”.
According to Sadikhov, his club must overcome the Sachkhere obstacle.
“Chikhura” is a serious opponent but the club has less’ budget, than us and the Georgians do not have legionaries. By the way, before the first leg the Georgian coaches and football players recognized the strength of “Neftchi”.
We are planning only victory in the second leg.
As for the incident, the provocation of three people cannot undermine our friendship. The representatives of the Georgian club and other officials apologized for the mentioned incident”.
Despite the home draw, Zaur Akhundov, president of the Azerbaijani Football Federation, believes in success of “Neftchi”. He is going to attend the second leg in Tbilisi.
“If I have time, I will attend the second leg and will support our club in Tbilisi. Hopefully, “Neftchi” will achieve success. “Chikhura” was lucky in the first leg. The hosts had to score 3-4 goals. It will be a tough match in Tbilisi but the opponent is not unbeaten”.
By the way, Berti Vogts, head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, attended the first leg of “Chikhura” and “Neftchi”. However, he was disappointed with the match.
