Chineses Around Maia

Only two matches are left at the 5th  round of current FIDE Grand Pirx in the city of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. Leader is still Chinese Yifan Hou (2577), who agreed to draw at the 17th move with Maia Chiburdanidze (World champion 5 times) and collected 6.5 points.Yifan Hou was playing with black pieces with Maia Chiburdanidze.(2514). Hou is half point advanced with Indian Humpy Koneru (2600) and Belgian Antuana Stefanova (2560), Russian Kosintsova (2562) and Chiburdanidze  have 5.5-5.5.points.

Chiburdanidze plays against Chinese Zhu (2476) in the 10th round. On August 11, she will held last part with Chinese Shen Yang (2435).We remind you that according to last rounds’ results, Nana Zagnidze with 390 points keeps the first place of Grand Prix, who participated in three tournaments . (Chiburdanidze has only 85 points). After three rounds Hou also has 320 points and Kositseva collected 290 points in two tournaments. Hou and Kositseva (she refused to play in last round) play last matches in Mongolia and have last chance to overtake Zagnidze. Nana will be able to increase her points in tournament which is planned to be held in Chile.

 All participants of Grand Prix play 4 tournaments and show the best 3 results. Winner chess player of total points will win a right to participate at the World Championship in the last quarter of 2011.
August 8 is the day-off at Grand Prix and the last 11th round will be held on August 11. Prize of each tournament is 40 000 EUR. Points and money will be divided by places the following way:

I place: 120 + bonus 40 points, 6 500 EUR
II place: 110 points + bonus 20, 4 750
III place: 100 points + bonus 10, 4 000
IV place: 90 points 3 750
V place: 80 points, 3 500
VI place: 70 points, 3 250
VII place: 60 points, 3 000
VIII place: 50 points, 2 750
IX place: 40 points, 2 500
X place: 30 points, 2 250
XI place: 20 points, 2 000
XII place: 10 points, 1 750
The best 9 participants according to six rounds of Grand Prix will be rewarded the following way:
I place: 15 000 EUR
II place: 10 000
III place: 8 000
IV place: 7 000
V place: 6 000
VI place: 5 000
VII place: 4 000
VIII place: 3 000
IX place: 2 000
