Today the 39th General Assembly of European Olympic Committee started working in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. Georgian National Olympic Committee is participating in this assembly with EOC of 49 countries.
It has been written many times that GNOC made a prestige project with City Municipality. This project is about hosting European sport forum in Tbilisi.
"European Youth Olympic Festival is often called as mini Olympiad and any country is proud of hosting it. When I was appointed as president of GNOC, my main priority was to hold this tournament in Tbilisi.
With active support of the country, we started working on "Tbilisi-2015" and invited leaders of other Olympic Committees in Tbilisi, including EOC president Patrick Hickey.
We continue meetings with my European colleagues here and we try to make candidature of Tbilisi more attractive for them. We must convince everyone that Tbilisi can host this festival.
We know that this is a very difficult case and we hope for the best. I want to mention that Brno is quite serious opponent but we hope that victory will be ours" - stated GNOC president Gia Natsvlishvili when we contacted him in Belgrade.
"GNOC and Tbilisi City Hall worked on this project. They did their best and we hope that members of the assembly will find positive in the candidature of Tbilisi. If we win, this will be victory not only of Georgian sport but also the whole country" - stated vice-president of GNOC Ramaz Goglidze.
"It is no doubt that today is the most important day for Georgian sport and Olympic movement. Such sport activities have never been held in post Soviet countries and it will be good if we will be the first. Before elections, candidate cities have equal chances. I hope that after voting Tbilisi will have one vote more than its opponent" - these are words of adviser of GNOC president Emzar Zenaishvili.
Before the voting, candidate cities of winter and summer Olympic Festivals have 20-25 minutes for presentation.
Nugzar Rukhadze will lead the presentation of "Tbilisi-2015". Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili will greet European Olympic family from Tbilisi. After this Olympic champion Nino Salukvadze, Ana Baramidze, Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and first vice-president of GNOC Ramaz Goglidze will make a speech.
The presentation is full with Georgian folk, city sightseeings and special song for "Tbilisi-2015" which will be sung by duet "Georgia".
