On February 5-6 Paris hosts Grand Slam. The strongest sportsmen of the world will compete at this tournament. 9 Georgian sportsmen are to participate at this competition.
Champions and prize winners will be found out in three weight categories on the first day of the tournament. Betkil Shukvani, Amiran Paposhvili (both of them 6 kg), Tengiz Paposhvili and Nugzar Tatalashvili (73 kg) will represent Georgian National Team on the first day. There is not Georgian participant in 66 weight category. On Sunday Levan Tsiklauri, Lasha Zurabiani (both of them 81 kg), Varlam Liparteliani (90 kg), Levan Zhorzholiani (100 kg) and Adam Okruashvili (+100) will wrestle.
Betkil Shukvani wrestles against Elice Mairash of Saudi Arabia, in case of victory his opponent will be more experienced judoka Pavel Petrikov of Czech Republic.
Amiran Paposhvili is seeded in 1/16 final and his rival is Juho Reinval of Finland or Dmitri Kozlov of Latvia.
Tengiz Paposhvili wrestles against Abbas Salihu Ergo of Nigeria. In case of success his next opponent will be Dick Van Tichelt of Belgium who is seeded as #1. Tatalashvili wrestles against Yoseb Palelashvili of Israel. Winner of this match will wrestle against Tajik Rasul Bokiev and will try to go through 1/8 final.
The most participants (56) are in 81 weight category. Georgians start competition in the second sirce. Zurabiani wrestles against Uzbek Mumin Nabiev. Safuan Attaf of Morocco wrestles against the winner in this couple. Tsiklauri wrestles against Antti Wirta of Finland or Avan Naem of Qatar.
There are a lot of participants in 90weight category. Liparteliani as well as Tsiklauri starts competing in 1/16 final. Ibrahim Khalaf of Jordan or Dutch Robby Van Laarhoven will fight against Liparteliani. Zhorzholiani wrestles against Pole Tomas Domanski or French Meael Le Normand, Ivan Aliev is rival of Okruashvili. In case of victory Okruashvili goes through 1/8final.
