"Baia" Zugdidi is in a bad situation. The team has not been training for 3 days and no one knows how they can play against "Sioni" Bolnisi in the 10th round of the championship on October 17. Players do not train in protest - because of not receiving their amount of money. It is about 3 months premium money.
"World Sport" contacted Elguja Kometiani, head coach of "Baia", and Aleko Gogoberishvili, one of the most experienced players of the team, to find out the situation:
Elguja Kometiani: We are not in a a good situation. Players went home in protest and they do not train anymore. Training has not been held for 3 days. Premium money of those three matches which we won in this season has not been delivered yet.
- Only premium money or salary too?
- Salary is delivered. Only last month salary was not delivered on time. The team should have received it on October 10. I do not think, it is right when players appeal such protest for 4-5 days delay of salary.
- So, do you condemn their behavior?
- I cannot make anyone play. They could have waited for 2-3 days. I am in the same situation. I also receive my salary with them.
- Why do you have financial crisis? And if there is a hope to improve it?
- I cannot elucidate this question but as I know, this problem will be solved soon. "Baia" will continue playing in Supreme League.
- But if players do not join you, how will you play against "Sioni"?
- There is such resource in Zugdidi that we will not be left without players.
- Do you mean reserve team?
- I do not know whether it is reserve team or main team, but we will play. The issue about those players who left the training must be found out. The club managers will make their decision.
Aleko Gogoberishvili: "After the start of the season, there is a bad financial situation in "Baia". We are waiting for premium money. It would be better if the situation changed for better. The team does not train. If this financial problem is solved in these days, it will be better. Do you think we like this situation? We all have our families and we cannot play without money".
Let us see what will change in coming days. Yet, nothing good happens. No sponsors, no hopes - there were talks about sponsorship of "Soccar" and "Magti" but in vain.
