During Chess Olympiad which was underway in the city of Russia, Khanty Mansiysk it became famous that Zura Azmaipharashvili resigned from the FIDE president position, it made Georgian chess player sad and started fighting for justice.  
Zurab Azmaipharashvili stated such statement in a talk with Azerisport:  “I knew that it was planning to represent my candidate to vice- president’s position, but I did not feel any kind of support from the group of Kirsan Ilumzhinov. I do not know reason of it. Everything is caused due to Garry Kasparov. Everyone knows that I have close relations with him and Garry was supporting Anatoly Kaprov in presidential elections. In spite of this I was for Silvio Danalov for European Chess Federation and FIDE was for Nihat Yazich. I do not think that Ilumzhinov wants personally to do harm with me but it is fact that his team was trying.  There were some people who wanted to support my candidate but they made change their minds. Pay attention to the fact that Kirsan named 5 vice-presidents and according to the rules he had right to name only two. As for me as a delegate of Georgia I will do my best for justice. I even can sue for it.  It is worth mentioning that Kutin, Gelfer and Yazich will resign from their positions in the nearest future. As for me I am going to live in Singapore and will take care of chess development in this country. I am not going to work in Ilumnizhov’s group any more, but my door is always open”.

During the last Chess Olympiad Azmaipharashvili was the captain of men’s team, he was dissatisfied with final results (the 12nd place) and situation in group and left the position.
“ I said everyone that was going to resign before the last round. I have friendly relations with each of them, but I decided to leave team. I advice players to do their best for getting back Vugar Gashimov . With this player Azerbaijani team would have better result in this Olympiad. I do not know who will replace me. There are more good captains in the world than good player, tahts why Azerbaijan should not loose good players”.
