The first day of Abu Dhabi Grand Prix turned out unsuccessful for the Georgian judo team. Today champions and prize winners were found out in 60, 66 and 73 kg. The Georgian judokas lost the first round. Head coach Irakli Uznadze took young sportsmen to Abi Dhabi.
Leri Chelidze (60 kg) lost to Diego Santos of Brazil by ippon. Giorgi Kaldani (66 kg) lost to Altansukh Dovdon of Mongolia. Vazha Margvelashvili beat Michael Valentine of America but then lost to Alim Gadanov of Russia.
Zurab Nozadze (73 kg) beat Florian Pap of Romania but then lost to Victor Scvortov of the UAE.
Tomorrow champions and prize winners will be found out in 81, 90, 100 and +100 kg. Paata Gviniashvili (90 kg) and Rostom Khakhaleishvili (+100 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia. Georgia does not have participants in other two weight categories.
