Georgian Judo National Team could not win medal in current World Judo Championship which is being held in Tokyo. Georgian judoka Davit Asumbani (60 kg) was defeated by Elio Verde of Italy with awarding of ipponi in repechage and lost chance of winning bronze medal.
Georgian judoka went through repechange from semi quarter, after losing with Bslan Mudaranov of Russia. After beating Bakhytzhan Turebekov of Kazakhstan, Heroyn Moureni of Netherland and Frazer Vill of Canada he went through quarter final.
Today, Amiran Papinashvili (60 kg), Mindia Khomizuri and Shalva Kardava (both of them 66kg) wrestle in tatami in Tokyo. Papinashvili stopped competing in 1/8 final. As for Khomizuri and Kardava, they could not go through the first stage.
