Arabidze Is a Half Point behind Leader

21 September is a day off at World Junior Championship which is under way in the city of Turkey, Kocaeli. Yesterday the seventh round games were held at the tournament. Meri Arabidze (2379) won her game.

The Georgian chess player defeated Dinara Saduakassova of Kazakhstan (2326) with black pieces and earned 5.5 points. Other three participants have the same points, like Meri. The Georgian is in the 5th place.

Irina Bulmaga of Romania (2387) is leading the tournament. She has 6.0 points. In the 8th round Bulmaga-Arabidze game will be central. The Georgian will play with black pieces.

Ana Kuchava (2092) is in the 24th place with 4.0 points. In the 7th round she played draw with Thi Mai Nguyen of Vietnam (2222). In the next round Ana will face Altanulzii Enkhtuul of Mongolia with white pieces.

Zurab Javakhadze (2457) lost at the boys’ tournament. He lost to Saleh Salem of the United Arab Emirates (2570) and is in the 36th place with 4.0 points. In the 8th round Zurab will play Luthfi Muhammad of Indonesia (2277) with white pieces.

World Championship is based on Swiss system and will end up on 26 September.
