A 44-year-old Latvian specialist Ainars Bagatskis will become head coach of Sokhumi, member of Men’s Georgian 20th Basketball Championship. Bagatskis will also head Latvian men national basketball team.
Vaja Kvaratskhelia, former head coach of “Sokhumi, informed “World Sport” with this information.
According to him, Bagatskis will arrive in Tbilisi on February 5 by Riga-Tbilisi flight at 5 o’clock and 30 minutes. He will attend the match between GSAU-“Sokhumi” which will start at 12:00. After signing contract he will start working as a head coach.
Candidature of a 49-year-old Rimantas Grigas, sports director of “Zalgiris” Kaunas, was discussed on this position.
As for Vaja Kvaratskhelia, he will be an assistant of Bagatskis. It is worth mentioning, that “Sokhumi” is planning to participate in European tournaments and that is why the club invited Baltic specialist.
