After Army, It is Students' Turn

Georgian rugby team which is called “Future Georgia” is holding English tournament. Today, the team will hold the second test match. After beating British Army, they will play against Oxford University team.

Georgian A team had to leave for England but Levan Maisashvili could not call up all desired rugby players. French clubs did not release some of them. Others are preparing for World Cup with Georgian U-20 team and that is why the 3rd team of Georgia left for Britain. In spite of that, English people call them Georgian national rugby union team. They believe that British Army was beat by that team which will play against English national rugby union team at World Cup in New Zealand and now “The Lelos” will hold match against Oxford University team…

It seems that no one warned Brits that Georgian 3rd team would visit them. Georgian rugby players won the first half 20:0 against Army. And in the end, they won 30:17. Karlen Aseishvili and Irakli Chkhikvadze scored tries. At the end, Jaba Bregvadze showed himself. Irakli Kiasashvili scored 2-2 conversions and penalty.

The match will start at 19:15 local time at Iffley Road. BP will be sponsor of this match. Stan McCain, member of Canadian national rugby team, is the most distinguished player in Oxford University team. He hopes to play well against Georgia, to show his possibilities to the management of the team and to leave for New Zealand for World Cup.

“I should use all matches to show my possibilities to the management of the team. The match against Georgia is very important. Canadian team lost against Georgians last November. As I know, Georgian team is strong. It is a very good team and this match will be interesting” – stated McCain.

Tim Stevens, general director of Oxford University, is very happy because of this match: “It is great honor for us to play against such team which participates in World Cup. Our rugby players have chance to show themselves against strong Georgia. I hope we will win this match”.
