Georgian judo team unsuccessfully continues participating in World Championship. From the team of Amiran Totikashvili Zaza Kedelashvili and Nugzar Tatalashvili (both 73 kg) wrestled on tatami. They managed to win 2-2 matches and finished participation in the 1/8 final.
Kirgiz Azat Kubakaev beat a 3-time European champion (66 kg) Kedelashvili by waza-ari and penalty. The main time finished draw - both judokas have one waza-ari and one yuko. In the added time, referee gave Georgian judoka another penalty and declared Kyrgyz as a winner. Before this match Zaza Kedelashvili beat Algerian Mustafa Bulemia and South Korean Gi-Man Bang by ippones.
At first Tatalashvili defeated Zeiad Mater of Yemen. Then he easily beat Czech Yaromir Jezek but he lost against future champion Hirouk Akimoto of Japan at the 4th minute.
In 73 kg, both members of the host team stood on the pedestal. Akimoto won gold medal and Iasuhiro Avano won bronze medal with Ki-Chun Vang of South Korea. Dutch Dex Elmont won silver medal.
Japanese team had the best result in 63 kg of women - gold and silver medals. The host won gold medal in 57 kg.
On September 12 champions and prize winners among men will be found out in 60 kg and 66 kg and among women in 48 kg and 52 kg.
Today, official website of the championship spread the information about tournament wrap of absolute weight class which will be held on September 13. 4 Georgians are in this wrap. We already knew about Aleksandre Mskhaladze because Amiran Totikashvili took him in Tokyo for absolute weight class. Before leaving for Tokyo, the coach stated that he would add one of the judokas of 100 kg and +100 kg to Mskhaladze but finally, he used the quota of International Judo Federation as much as possible. On the last day of the championship Lasha Gujejiani, Adam Okruashvili and Levan Zhorzholiani will put judogis on.
Australian Josua Dali will be the first opponent of Mskhaladze. Gujejiani will wrestle against Mongolian Tuguldur Bayarsaikhan, Okruashvili - Polish Janus Voinarovic, Zhorzholiani - Spanish Anjel Para.
