The Sports Journalists Association of Georgia evaluated the poll results and named the best sportsman and team of 2014.

Judoka Avtandil Chrikishvili became a favorite of the journalists two years in a row.

Chrikishvili won World and European Championships, Tbilisi Grand Prix and Paris Grand Slam. FILA also named Chrikishvili the best judoka of the year.

This year Chrikishvili gained 332 points. Here is Top 10: 2. Vladimer Khinchegashvili (freestyle wrestling, 283 points); 3. Varlam Liparteliani (judo, 212); 4. Zaza Pachulia (basketball, 149); 5. Vakhtang Chidrashvili (sambo, 143); 6. Mamuka Gorgodze (rugby, 83); 7. Amiran Papinashvili (judo, 72); 8. Beka Gviniashvili (judo, 69); 9. Gogita Arkania (karate, 68); 10. Beka Bazadze (fencing, 57).

The journalists named the national basketball team the best team of the year. Our basketball players qualified for EuroBasket 2015.

The team of Igor Kokoskov took the first place in the qualifying group. It happened for the first time. The judo team took the second place and the rugby team – the third place.
