Nana Dzagnidze (2547), leader of the Georgian women’s team, is leading Rapid at World Mind Games which is under way in the capital of China, Beijing.
16 women and 16 men chess players are participating in this tournament. Dzagnidze and Bela Khotenashvili (2407) are playing in the name of Georgia.
Four games were held on the first day of Rapid. Dzagnidze played draw with Humpy Koneru of India (2611), beat Tatiana Kosintseva of Russia (2505), Anna Muzychuk of Ukraine (2546) and Valentina Gunina of Russia (2552).
Dzagnidze earned 3.5 points and is 0.5 point ahead of Yifan Hou (China, 2600). Khotenashvili is in the 10th place with 1.5 points. She played draw with Muzychuk, defeated Alexandra Kosteniuk (Russia, 2577), lost to Gunina and Elisabeth Pahtz (Germany, 2485).
The last 3 games will be held tomorrow. In the 5th round Dzagnidze will play Hou and Khotenashvili will face Wenjun Ju (China, 2555).
On December 13-15 the participants will compete in Blitz and on December 16-17 they will play in Basque System.
